WASHINGTON-The Federal Communications Commission yesterday proposed moving wireless heart monitors to two different sets of spectrum blocks where the devices would be primary users.
The blocks of spectrum include 608-614 MHz, 1395-1400 MHz and 1429-1432 MHz; and 608-614 MHz and 1391-1400 MHz. The multiple bands for each set are necessary because there are users in each of those bands, such as government navigation, that still will be protected.
The FCC expects to create the medical telemetry service to the band where medical telemetry equipment, including wireless heart monitors, will be located before the end of the transition to digital TV.
