LMCC ASKS FOR EXTENSION

WASHINGTON-The Land Mobile Communications Council asked the Federal Communications Commission to give commenters an extra month in answering the many questions raised in a notice of proposed rule making implementing the Balanced Budget Act of 1997.

One of the issues raised could lead to an auction of private wireless spectrum.

“Due to the number of questions raised in the item and the enormous impact the answers to these questions will have on the private wireless industry, the LMCC respectfully requests that the [FCC] extend the deadline for filing comments until Aug. 2, 1999,” said the LMCC petition.

The clock started ticking on the 60-day comment window on May 2.
