PHILIPS, VLSI SIGN MERGER AGREEMENT

SUNNYVALE, Calif.-Royal Philips Electronics and VLSI Technology Inc. announced a definitive merger agreement under which Philips will acquire all of VLSI’s shares for $21 per share in cash.

VLSI will become part of Philips Semiconductors.
