CORONADO, Calif.-At the Demo Mobile show last week, Aether Technologies Inc. announced the formal opening of its Enterprise Data Wireless Center in Maryland, designed to extend wireless access capabilities to enterprise information management systems.
Initial customers include AT&T Wireless Services Inc., Bear Stearns & Co., Discover Brokerage, Palm Computing, Orbcomm Global L.P., Sybase and Reuters America.
The company said the center incorporates its wireless system integration and management services, including system design, development and integration, proprietary Aether Intelligent Messaging (AIM.net) development tools, customer support and product fulfillment.
Also, 3Com Corp. and Aether Technologies announced a strategic alliance to help drive the design, development and deployment of wireless enterprise solutions for the Palm Computing platform.
Under the agreement, Sybase will integrate the AIM.net technology with its MobiLink enterprise server synchronization to allow Palm organizers to share information with the user’s enterprise system.
“For large organizations looking to distribute real-time information wirelessly, this alliance will bring an important set of options to enterprise customers that complement wireless Palm Computing platform solutions such as the upcoming Palm VII,” said David Oros, Aether chief executive officer. “The Palm computing platform is already established as the most prominent handheld computing environment in both the enterprise and consumer markets. Combined with our AIM.net technology, corporations can take highly secure, customized wireless data solutions from development to deployment faster and easier than with any other option.”
