CUPERTINO, Calif.-DSP Communications Inc. reported revenues for the first quarter ended March 31 of $35.9 million, an increase of 56 percent over revenues reported for the same period the previous year.
The company’s net earnings were $7.9 million, or 19 cents per share, compared with $6.7 million, or 16 cents per share, for first quarter 1998.
“Our revenues in this quarter were driven by strong sales in the [Personal Digital Cellular] cellular market in Japan. During the quarter we have secured another design win for our [Code Division Multiple Access] business, and looking forward, we expect a significant ramp-up in our CDMA business in the coming quarters worldwide,” said Joseph Perl, DSPC’s chief executive officer.
