BOSTON-Strategy Analytics’ recent study, “US Wireless Voice Market Forecast,” reports that between 1999 and 2004, wireless minutes of use will grow at a compound annual rate of 34 percent, eventually reaching over 630 billion.
“Total cellular penetration in the U.S. is now projected to reach 52 percent by 2004, with handset unit shipments rising to 84 million per annum,” said David A. Kerr, vice president of wireless programs, Strategy Analytics.
Kerr said the second half of 1998 saw very strong wireless growth, aided significantly by national one-rate pricing plans and prepaid tariffs.
