Globalstar L.P. announced it successfully launched an additional four low-earth-orbit satellites on
a Soyuz-Ikar rocket from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan. Globalstar now has 16 satellites in orbit. The total
constellation will consist of 48 satellites, as well as four spares. The company hopes to have the full constellation up by
the end of the year.
Nokia Corp. announced a dividend of $1.06 per share for 1998 at its annual general meeting.
The record date for the dividend is March 22 and it will be paid starting March 30. Nokia also re-elected to its board of
directors Pirkko Alitalo, Edward Andersson, Paul J. Collins, Jouko K. Leskinen, Jorma Ollila, Robert F. W. van Oordt,
Vesa Vainio and Iiro Viinanen. Bengt Holmstrom was elected to the board as a new member.

Technologies Inc. announced Total Access Telecommunications has bought its MVP modular voice processing system
to add advanced messaging management and one-number services to its business subscribers in the Midwest.
The
Organization for the Advancement of Structured Information Standards announced a partnership with XML.com, under
which the group will extend items from its news page to the company’s Web site. OASIS is a nonprofit consortium
concerned with product-independent data and content interchange. XML.com is a partnership between Seybold
Publications and Songline Studios dedicated to evangelizing XML technology.
Telecom Analysis Systems Inc.
announced it completed the $19 million acquisition of the wireless and satellite communications testing product lines of
NoiseCom Inc. Engineering, technical support, manufacturing and administrative staff from NoiseCom will join TAS.
A new facility in northern New Jersey will house the employees.
Brightpoint Inc. announced it entered into an
integrated logistics services agreement with Iridium North America, expanding the two companies’ existing base
services agreement. Under the pact, Brightpoint will perform additional integrated logistics services like shipping to
multiple locations and end users, customer support, order acceptance, billing and collections for Iridium and its service
providers, roaming partners and agents.
