ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill.-Motorola Inc. signed an $85 million contract to supply Code
Division Multiple Access digital cellular phone equipment to Baja Celular Mexicana S.A. de C.V., Movitel del
Noroeste S.A. de C.V., Telefonia Celular del Norte S.A. de C.V. and Celular de Telefonia S.A. de C.V., all of
Mexico.
The four Mexican cellular carriers launched their services in February, June and July of 1998. The contract
expands these services to include Motorola’s Network Solutions Sector’s SC family of CDMA base stations and its
high-capacity EMX 5000 switch.
Motorola PCS also is expected to supply its latest CDMA handsets, including the
MultiTAC and StarTAC cellular phones, said the company.
