SYMBOL FORMS ALLIANCES WITH PUMA AND RIVERBED

NEW ORLEANS-At the Symbol Worldwide Sales and Partner Conference held here last week,
Symbol Technologies Inc. announced mobile computing alliances with both Puma Technology Inc. and Riverbed
Technologies Inc.

According to the marketing agreement with Puma, Symbol will resell and original equipment
manufacture Puma’s Satellite Forms and Intellisync Anywhere products. Symbol said it will use Intellisync Anywhere
to provide custom application deployment and synchronization for its Symbol PT family of handheld computing
devices. The company also said it will incorporate the Satellite Forms engine into future Symbol devices based on the
Palm Operating System from Palm Computing.

The arrangement with Riverbed gives Symbol access to Riverbed’s
Scout server synchronization software. Under the terms of the agreement, Symbol will license and resell Scout and
other Riverbed products as part of its advanced handheld SPT/Palm Computing solutions. Eventually, Riverbed said it
will create versions of Scout for devices running Windows 95, Windows CE and DOS, as well as for international
markets. Riverbed announced it recently received $3.5 million in venture capital financing lead by FBR Technology
Venture Partners.
