MONTREAL-Harris Corp. announced research and development plans to create new point-to-multipoint and wireless local loop systems to serve global markets.
The R&D program is being initiated by Harris’ Microwave Communications Division and will be centered at Harris Canada’s high-tech plants in Dollard-des-Ormeaux, Quebec, and Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
Harris said the program aims to provide cost-effective, high-capacity solutions for small businesses and emerging markets that need basic and advanced telephony and Internet solutions.
Harris Canada is undertaking these projects with financial support from the Government of Canada, through Technology Partnerships Canada, a unit of the Department of Industry.
