NumereX Corp. announced Cellemetry L.L.C. signed an agreement with Bell Atlantic Mobile, expanding its Cellemetry Data Service footprint into the Eastern corridor. Gordon Ray, chairman, president and chief executive officer of NumereX, said the agreement adds 50 million pops to its coverage, including areas of New York, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Boston, Washington, D.C., and Baltimore. Cellemetry links remote equipment to central monitoring facilities for two-way wireless data messaging via cellular coverage and requires partnerships with cellular carriers to do so.
Sprint Spectrum L.P. launched its personal communications services in Las Vegas, its 164th metropolitan market, the company said. Two local promotions are being offered in the Las Vegas market: a 200-minute package for $30 a month, with additional minutes costing 50 cents, and a 500-minute package for $50, with additional minutes costing 25 cents.
Bellcore introduced the AirBoss Developer Program, giving application developers access to its patented AirBoss wireless communications technology. Information Mechanics Inc. is the first licensee of the program, which Bellcore said will enhance the speed, ease and cost efficiency for software developers to create wireless data solutions that work across different client devices, platforms and technologies.
Lucent Technologies Inc. announced its Intelligent Messaging Architecture-Caller Applications platform now is available worldwide. It is the first IMA platform made available by Lucent and is also part of the company’s AnyMedia Messaging strategy. IMA-CA allows subscribers to send and receive messages from any device to anyone on any network, regardless of media, the company said. Lucent’s Octel Messaging Division created the platform.
Pacific Bell Wireless customers can now retrieve their personal communications services messages from any phone-including landline and other wireless phones-with the company’s new LandLink feature. LandLink allows Pacific Bell Wireless customers to access their PCS messages any time, from any location, using any phone for a flat fee of $4.95 per month. The monthly fee includes an unlimited amount of LandLink calls each month.
