NEW YORK-Orbcomm USA L.P., Dulles, Va., a provider of low-earth-orbit satellite-based data and messaging communications, announced Sept. 10 it has signed reseller agreements with three companies serving different industrial sectors.
American Millenium Corp., Tavares, Fla., will deliver Orbcomm’s two-way data services to the oil, gas, shipping and rail industries. AMC is a digital wireless and wireline telecommunications hardware and software provider that also serves as a value-added reseller for PageMart Wireless Inc.
The Salt River Project, a large water and electric utility based in Phoenix, will use Orbcomm’s network to relay information for SPATIA. This system, designed and trademarked by the utility, uses a single source for data collection, communication and information processing related to water quality and consumption, electricity, and natural gas. SRP formats the information into readable text to provide to its customers.
MobileNet was incorporated in 1996 to develop custom mobile data solutions for the field service and pick-up and delivery industries. Its TrakPak allows its customers to pinpoint equipment location and to determine engine run times, work times and performance. It also can sound an alarm if equipment moves outside an authorized area.
MobileNet resells BellSouth Wireless Data and will use Orbcomm’s services when customers’ geographic requirements exceed the reach of the land-based wireless data network.
