DALLAS-Paging Network Inc. announced it will begin charging new customers for the CNN Interactive news service. Current subscribers receive the service free.
The announcement came as the two companies disclosed they have extended their relationship to enhance and more aggressively market their existing information services offerings.
The CNN news service delivers national, world, financial, weather, entertainment and sports news bundled with basic alphanumeric service. Later this year, PageNet said it plans to begin charging new users a separate subscription fee for this service. The partnership will pursue the development and delivery of new customized services to PageNet subscribers, the company said, such as allowing subscribers to dictate which news subjects they want and which they wish to avoid.
