ALLGON EXPANDS BUSINESS LINE: COVERAGE SOLUTIONS

Allgon Enterprises Inc., a manufacturer of various wireless infrastructure products, announced it has expanded its business to include coverage solutions as well.

The self-described “best-kept secret in the industry” recently named Anders Ericsson as its new president and general manager. Ericsson formerly was with L.M. Ericsson’s Malaysian business. His appointment marks an evolutionary step for the company, he said, as Allgon begins a significant marketing push designed to give name-brand recognition to its products and solutions.

In the product arena, Allgon makes base station equipment, antennas, repeaters and microwave-link products. The company introduced what it called the world’s smallest auto-tuned combiner, which condenses up to four 1900 MHz channels, and a new dual-band filter, which collocates Global System for Mobile communications equipment at 900 MHz and 1800 MHz for carriers transmitting on two frequency bands.

Allgon recently has begun addressing turnkey solutions to address holes in networks that require greater coverage but not capacity, such as highways, tunnels and campus environments. According to Ericsson, Allgon will address a carrier’s coverage problem by evaluating the need and creating a solution with its suite of infrastructure products.

The company said it recently delivered such a solution to an unnamed carrier, saving that customer almost 70 percent by deploying a repeater solution rather than adding more transmitters.

Allgon’s research and development offices are based in Sweden, while it has marketing offices in Fort Worth, Texas, to address the North American market and another in Brazil, targeting South America.
