ERICSSON BUYS EDGECOM

STOCKHOLM, Sweden-Ericsson Radio Systems announced it bought telecommunications consulting company Edgecom for an undisclosed amount.

The acquisition effectively splits Ericsson’s consulting activities from its sales and installation activities. Edgecom will be owned by ERS and run as a commercially independent company of the Telecom Management Solutions division.

Edgecom will provide consultancy services to new network license holders and Ericsson customers to help them enter the market quickly and remain competitive and profitable, said Ericsson.

The consulting company, established in April 1997, is a subsidiary of Unisource NV with revenues of about $4 million for its first nine months of operation. The company has 30 employees based in Stockholm, Sweden and London.
