Verizon Wireless has partnered with FunMobility to provide a new video service for customers.
Under the agreement, users can access “America’s Best Mobile Flix” (aFLIX), a video sharing and mobile social network site for $5 per month. The application allows customers who own video-capable devices to upload videos into certain categories such as comedy, kids, sports hijinks, or even create personal profiles to share with others. Users can also rate, review and comment on videos from their device.
“Today’s mobile phones give our customers the flexibility and opportunity to create their own media,” said Barry Ross, associate director, Digital Media at Verizon Wireless. “Our relationship with FunMobility is focused on helping our customers do that, and we’re thrilled to offer a greater selection of personalization options and applications like aFLIX, which lets them capture some of their favorite moments on video and share those experiences from almost anywhere.”
Verizon Wireless retains a similar relationship with video-sharing favorite YouTube.com. The carrier established an exclusive agreement with the site in late 2006, which allowed Vcast subscribers to upload recorded videos to the site.
