WOODLAND HILLS, Calif.-SigmaOne Communications Corp. held the first prototype demonstration of its E911 system for locating and tracking wireless calls, said the company.
Results showed SigmaOne’s Southern California network-based system had an accuracy of 345 feet 67 percent of the time in both stationary and continuous tracking tests. The Federal Communications Commission Phase II enhanced 911 mandate requires carriers to be able to locate callers to within 410 feet.
The San Fernando Valley test was conducted within a mix of residential and commercial settings, including two-, three- and four-story buildings. The company said it has tested the system from 350,000 location points, with 10,000 new locations tested daily.
