ATLANTA-A survey of 500 small business owners, released at SuperComm ’98, demonstrated a “tremendous potential for sales in the coming years.”
The survey, conducted by the Verity Group last month, was commissioned by SuperComm co-sponsors, the Telecommunications Industry Association and the United States Telephone Association.
The assessment examined several telecom services and found that more than half of the business owners have a mobile phone and three in 10 have a pager. Only one-third of the respondents get all of their telecommunications services from a single company, and interest was equally divided between having only one telecom provider and receiving only one bill each month.
“The one-number service drew the strongest expression of interest,” said Matthew J. Flanigan, president of TIA.
The researchers conducted telephone interviews with a randomly selected sample of people who own businesses with fewer than 50 employees. The data for the entire sample has a margin of error of plus or minus four points.
