Bell Atlantic Mobile
Bill Davidson was named vice president of wireless data marketing and sales for Bell Atlantic Mobile. In his newly created position, Davidson will be responsible for the overall strategy of the wireless data business and for daily operations of its marketing teams, including targeting new markets and applications for wireless data solutions and enhancing offerings for existing applications. Davidson will identify companies to work with BAM on joint development and marketing of new wireless data products and services. Davidson has more than 10 years of data services sales and marketing experience in the telecommunications industry. Most recently, he was vice president of commercial sales effectiveness in the telecom financial services division of GE Capital. Prior to GE, Davidson worked for Bell Atlantic Corp. since 1986. He joined BAM in 1992 as its first manager of technical support for sales of data and enhanced services. He was then named regional director for New Jersey in 1994 and later executive director of sales for BAM’s New England region.
BellSouth Mobility
Rebel Sharit Henley was promoted to distribution sales manager, Level II, for BellSouth Mobility of Alabama. In her new position, Henley is responsible for statewide telesales for cellular and emerging personal communications services networks. She also will direct agent and national retail distribution for BellSouth Mobility, Birmingham, and manage special projects for convergence services between BellSouth Telecommunications and BellSouth Mobility for Alabama. Before being promoted, Henley was cellular telesales manager for Alabama and indirect distribution manager for Birmingham. She has been with BellSouth for five years.
Arch Communications
Christopher J. Madden joined Arch Communications Group Inc. as the new vice president of human resources. He came from Helix Technology Corp., where he held the same position. Before Helix, Madden was vice president of human resources for Augat Inc., and prior to that, he held human-resources positions at Data General Corp. and Aetna Life and Casualty Co. Madden will report to C. Edward Baker Jr., chairman and chief executive officer of Arch.
Mac Com
Robert D. Mance joined Mac Com Inc. at the company’s Florida headquarters as its new vice president. Mance will play a role in the business expansion and strategic planning of the firm, as well as head new market expansion. Mance has held management positions with RCA, General Electric Co. and also was a vice president in the Latin American market for Motorola Inc. He speaks fluent Spanish. Mac Com is a privately owned firm that represents wireless and electronics manufacturers.
PanaVise
PanaVise Products Inc. appointed Bruce Richter director of engineering and manufacturing. Richter’s responsibilities will include designing and engineering new products, upgrading existing products and supervising the entire manufacturing process from raw materials purchasing to order shipping. He plans to implement just-in-time manufacturing at PanaVise to reduce waste and provide better inventory control. Richter previously worked for Joslyn Electronic Systems, first as a tool maker and designer, and later as a manufacturing engineer and manager. PanaVise makes small work-holding vises and related accessories, mobile communications mounts and speaker mounts.
Price Communications
Price Communications Wireless Inc. promoted Victor M. Landau to vice president of technical operations. In his new position, Landau will work closely with the market general managers to oversee continued expansion and configuration of the company’s cellular network. Landau has been with Price Communications and its predecessor, Palmer Wireless, since 1984, most recently as director of site acquisitions. During his tenure at Price, he has held increasingly responsible engineering positions in both the broadcasting and cellular divisions. Prior to joining the company, Landau was an engineering consultant for E.H. Munn. Landau will report to M. Wayne Wisehart, president and chief executive officer of Price.
Also promoted was Maureen Hasinger, to general manager of Price’s Georgia 9 rural service area. The RSA has 120,000 pops and covers the cities of Americus, Cordele and Dawson, Ga. Hasinger has more than 11 years of customer service, marketing and retail sales experience, and most recently was manager of the company store in Americus. As one of 16 general managers reporting to Wisehart, Hasinger will have overall responsibility for the Georgia 9 market.
