HAUPPAUGE, N.Y.-Microwave Power Devices Inc. announced it completed a development and supply agreement with Qualcomm Inc., and now plans to develop and manufacture highly linear, single-channel Code Division Multiple Access amplifiers for Qualcomm’s QCell base stations.
QCell base stations are used in wireless local loop networks and to upgrade existing cellular infrastructure from analog to digital technology.
The agreement says the amplifiers must be shipped by the end of the year, and also details step pricing for higher quantities if Qualcomm requires more units. The agreement resulted in an additional $4.5 million in follow-on production orders for Microwave Power Devices.
The agreement brings Microwave Power Devices’ total backlog to about $96 million, which is about a half-and-half mix of commercial and military orders.
