AUSTIN, Texas-The Semiconductor Products Sector of Motorola Inc. and Telogy Networks announced that Motorola signed an exclusive licensing agreement for Telogy’s ActiveAir Wireless technologies, which Motorola plans to integrate into its wireless semiconductor solutions.
Motorola said it also acquired certain related assets in a separate agreement, and in addition, Motorola made a minority equity investment in Telogy. Financial terms of the transactions were not disclosed.
ActiveAir is a unified digital signal processor and microcontroller unit (DSP/MCU) software solution designed to maximize the benefits of advanced integrated silicon technology. The solution allows manufacturers to produce smaller phones that require less power, at lower production costs, Telogy said.
ActiveAir provides leverage for manufacturers to shorten development schedules, focus development resources on differentiating custom features and functions, reduce production costs, increase market share, address multiple regional markets and develop satellite, wireless local loop and cordless products.
“Bundling Telogy’s embedded communications software with Motorola’s chipsets will offer customers a powerful integrated solution,” said Joseph A. Crupi, president and chief executive officer of Telogy.
