DENVER-Heather Forsgren Weaver has joined the staff of RCR as a reporter in the Washington, D.C., bureau. She most recently worked for Washington Telecom Week, an Inside Washington publication covering telecommunications policy.
Weaver has a varied Washington “inside-the-Beltway” background. Prior to returning to journalism, she was a lobbyist on various environmental resource issues. She also followed the congressional debate and implementation of the Telecommunications Act of 1996.
She first came to Washington as a press intern for the Senate Committee on Labor and Human Resources under then-chairman Orrin Hatch (R-Utah). She also served as an intern in former Senator Jake Garn’s (R-Utah) office during college. Following graduation from Weber State College in Ogden, Utah, in 1989, with a degree in Communications/Journalism, she returned to Garn’s office where she worked in a variety of capacities until his retirement in January 1993.
