SPRINT TO OPEN N.M. CUSTOMER CENTER

KANSAS CITY, Mo.-Sprint Spectrum L.P., which operates a personal communications services network under the Sprint PCS brand name, said it plans to open a new customer-care center in Rio Rancho, N.M.

The Rio Rancho facility will expand on the customer-care functions already provided at a facility in Fort Worth, Texas. The center is expected to open late this summer and could create as many as 1,200 new jobs in the Albuquerque area, said the company.

Sprint and Rio Rancho authorities are working through final details for the project, including expediting the approval of several industrial revenue bonds that will clear the way to begin actual construction of the center. The selection of the Rio Rancho site is contingent upon the successful completion of the IRB process, said Sprint.
