MOTOROLA GAINS PAGING & GSM DEALS IN HENAN PROVINCE

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill.-Motorola Inc.’s Cellular Infrastructure Group won a $19 million contract from Henan Posts and Telecommunications Administration to replace parts of its network in China’s Henan Province.

When the replacement project in the cities of Anyang, Puyang and Hebi is complete, Global System for Mobile communications network capacity in the three cities will be 180,000 subscribers, said Motorola.

Motorola’s Asia-Pacific Paging Networks Division also was awarded a contract from Henan PTA, as well as NingXia PTA, to provide FLEX multifrequency roaming paging networks. Motorola values the provincial paging network contracts at about $7 million.

The Henan province’s 17 cities will have an initial network capacity of 1.1 million paging subscribers, while the network for the independent province of NingXia will support 100,000 paging subscribers in four cities, Motorola said.

When completed, the two networks will be incorporated into The Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications’ nationwide paging network.
