MENLO PARK, Calif.-The Infiniti Communicator, an in-vehicle communications system now available in the 1998 Infiniti Q45 and I30 luxury sedans, will use mapping tools and technology from Etak Inc., announced Etak.
The system, co-developed by Infiniti and Protection One Mobile Services Group (formerly Westar), is the latest emergency response service to use Etak digital mapping tools and data. Etak also provides mapping solutions to Protection One, General Motors’ OnStar, Ford Motor Co.’s Lincoln RESCU, Satellite Tracking Technologies, Eagle Monitoring and Data Burst Technologies.
The Infiniti Communicator system includes airbag deployment notification, one-touch emergency and non-emergency roadside assistance, remote door unlock, vehicle security system notification and stolen vehicle recovery.
With headquarters in Menlo Park, Calif., Etak is a wholly owned subsidiary of Sony Corporation of America, a unit of Tokyo-based Sony Corp.
