ALEXANDRIA, Minn.-Rural Cellular Corp. announced it entered a definitive agreement to purchase the outstanding stock of Western Maine Cellular Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Utilities Inc., for $7.5 million.
The acquisition of Western Maine Cellular, which serves more than 2,400 customers in western Maine, will link RCC’s cellular operations in central Maine to the multistate cellular system of Atlantic Cellular to the west and south, RCC said. RCC recently formed an agreement to acquire Atlantic Cellular’s Vermont, New Hampshire, New York and Massachusetts cellular licenses, and its operations and related assets. Atlantic Cellular operates as Cellular One.
