BOSTON-Sprint Spectrum L.P. launched its personal communications services network in Boston, offering competitive service plans like $30 per month for 300 minutes.
The company said it also designed home service area calling and local calling areas. The home service area includes five of the six states in the New England region as well as the New York metropolitan area. Sprint PCS New England customers will pay their local airtime rates while in this home service area and will incur no additional roaming fees.
The local calling area allows New England customers to make a local call to several area codes in New England without incurring additional long-distance charges.
Through Jan. 11, customers will have the chance to lock into the $30/300-minute plan until 2000. The basic Sprint PCS service package for New England consumers will start at $20 per month.
As part of the New England introduction, Sprint PCS plans to donate phones and airtime to four schools in the region to be included in the company’s nationwide pilot program, Sprint PCS Education Connection.
