CONESTOGA TO USE ORGA’S SMART CARDS

PAOLI, Pa.-Conestoga Wireless selected Orga Card Systems, a supplier of Global System for Mobile communications subscriber identity module cards, to provide smart cards for use with its personal communications services.

The arrangement is part of Orga’s GSM North America program designed to provide turnkey solutions for C-, D-, E- and F-block networks, said the company. Conestoga expects to launch its network, which includes Reading, Pottsville, Sunbury and Williamsport, Pa., during the first quarter.

Gary Wilmore, executive vice president of marketing and customer service for Conestoga Wireless, said the company also is evaluating a future migration to Orga’s Over The Air Express 500, which enables network operators to modify and add functionality to a subscriber’s SIM card without physical access to the card.
