SPRINT’S PCS CUSTOMERS ABLE TO ROAM NATIONWIDE

KANSAS CITY-Sprint Spectrum L.P. announced the availability of dual-band phones to customers nationwide. The new phones will allow customers to roam on analog cellular networks where Sprint PCS lacks 1900 MHz Code Division Multiple Access coverage.

Sprint PCS is offering three phones, each priced around $250. The options include the Sony Corp. CM-B1202SPR, the Qualcomm Inc. QCP-2700 and Qualcomm QCP-2700F. All the phones include the Jog Dial Navigator feature that provides access to a feature menu, phone book and call record. The phones also use an extended lithium-ion battery, delivering more than four hours of talk time or 60 hours of standby time while operating on the personal communications services network.

Customers roaming off Sprint PCS’ network will be charged a national rate of 69 cents per minute for inbound and outbound calls plus applicable long-distance charges where Sprint PCS has roaming agreements in place with an analog cellular carrier.

Customers who roam in an area not currently covered by a Sprint PCS roaming agreement still will be able to use their phone to make credit card-billed calls as well as free emergency 911 calls, said Sprint.
