NORCROSS, Ga.-USCI Inc.’s wholly owned subsidiary, Ameritel Communications Inc., said it successfully sold its paging services over the QVC television program in the first of an Ameritel series on QVC.
The TV sales offer lasted about 10 minutes, and USCI said the order entry and information-processing system jointly developed by USCI and QVC was able to successfully handle viewer response.
Bruce Hahn, chairman, president and chief executive officer of USCI, said the system allowed it to ship activated pagers to customers within 24 hours.
“We also tested QVC viewer acceptance of Ameritel’s promotional month-to-month rate for paging service,” said Hahn. “We believe that this is the most attractive promotion for paging products and service ever offered on a national basis.”
