GLENAYRE RUNS TWO PROTOCOLS AT ONCE

CHARLOTTE, N.C.-Glenayre Technologies Inc.’s Wireless Messaging Group said it successfully transmitted one-way and two-way paging messages concurrently using the same network infrastructure.

During ReFLEX testing with PageMart Wireless Inc., Glenayre transmitted FLEX, ReFLEX and POCSAG messages on the same network. Glenayre said the trials demonstrate the ability of its paging infrastructure to migrate to narrowband technologies.

Service providers can use their existing transmitter equipment with the addition of a receiver network and a GL3100 RF Director to provide the two-way capability on one-way systems.

“We’ve delivered on our promise of simple migration solutions for NPCS-one that represents a smart business strategy for operators entering the two-way market,” said John Linton, senior vice president of marketing and product management for Glenayre’s Wireless Messaging Group.
