CHARLOTTE, N.C.-Glenayre Technologies Inc. won a contract to install a nationwide high-speed paging network in Taiwan for ChungHwa Telecom, Taiwan’s national communications company. Glenayre values the arrangement at $31 million.
ChungHwa Telecom has more than 2 million paging subscribers online. The new system will operate on six frequencies, and it will support FLEX, European Radio Messaging System and future high-speed paging protocols, said the company.
Glenayre said it plans to build three major switching centers and install more than 1,500 transmitters and controllers over the next 12 months.
