Mobile Firefox browser released

Mozilla released an early mobile version of its Firefox browser in an effort to get feedback from developers and wireless Web users.
The Mountain View, Calif.-based developer unveiled Fennec, a “zooming” browser that features bookmarks, a smart URL bar, popup blocker and tabbed browsing. The alpha release is available for Nokia N810 Internet Tablets; experimental versions are also available for desktop PCs running Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X and Linux.
The offering takes its name from a small desert fox.
“We plan to do further alpha releases which focus on performance, including projects like TraceMonkey, speculative parsing and many Fennec and Gecko optimizations,” the organization said on its Web site. “But in the meantime, we feel it is important to continue to grow the community and gather feedback as early as possible in the development process.”
