PRONET TO PROVIDE COLUMBIA PAGING

DALLAS-ProNet Inc. has received a contract to provide paging services for the Columbia/HCA Healthcare Corp.

The three-year agreement, which begins immediately, will make services available to more than 340 Columbia facilities and 285,000 employees nationwide. The dollar value of the contract was not disclosed.

The contract includes paging services to be used by the Columbia hospitals and other facilities for daily operations, as well as a separate plan to make paging services available to Columbia’s employees and their families for personal use.

In addition to alphanumeric and numeric services, the facility may elect to install ProNet’s PC-based proprietary Intelligent Processing Terminal as an information system that can be customized for each individual site. The IPT is a self-contained paging system upon which healthcare facilities build paging-based messaging, monitoring and directory applications based on the needs of the facility, its personnel and its patients.

The IPT system can keep track of personnel status and location, convey patient information and monitor mechanical, information and security/safety systems, as well as patient monitors and laboratories.
