WARREN, N.J.-Lucent Technologies Inc. said it is supplying its GlobeView-2000 asynchronous transfer mode switch to the Communications Authority of Thailand and Indonesia’s P.T. Komunikasi Selular Indonesia.
ATM is a switching method that breaks streams of information into small packets, which facilitates high-speed transmission of voice, data and video. The companies will use Lucent’s ATM switch in their Code Division Multiple Access networks to provide enhanced service quality, greater capacity, faster call connection and fewer dropped calls, said Lucent.
CAT’s network covers Thailand’s capital, Bangkok and the central region of Thailand. Komselindo’s network covers regions around Jakarta and Bandung in west Java, Manado and Ujung Pandang on the islands of Sulawesi and Medan, Padang and Banda Aceh on the island of Sumatra.
