SCHAUMBURG, Ill.-Motorola Inc. offers several new communications solutions for the manufacturing environment through the SiteComm portfolio.
One solution is a pre-packaged, trunked radio system that includes a portable, self-contained housing for plug-and-play capability.
The computer-controlled, automatic channel-sharing ability of trunking provides fast, clear connections, Motorola said. The pre-packaged system is available with features such as encryption, additional channels and custom enhancements.
SiteComm also offers a low-powered trunking system that operates in the 10-110 milliwatts power range; this system is ideal for clean room environments, nuclear power plants, computer areas and other environments where high-power, radio transmissions could interfere with production lines or sensors.
SiteComm also offers an on-site, high-speed alphanumeric paging system, which manufacturers can use to monitor data through a computer program. A centralized computer system monitors ongoing data, compiles the data and alerts appropriate personnel via pager to provide up-to-the minute information.
SiteComm can be used to improve operational efficiency, respond to emergencies, manage environmental, regulatory matters or shipping and receiving matters, handle inventory control and decrease utility costs, Motorola said.
