SAN DIEGO-Qualcomm Inc. signed a contract to supply a Code Division Multiple Access system to JSC Personal Communications of Moscow.
The system initially will serve 100,000 subscribers, but as many as 300,000 subscribers in the Moscow area could be using the system in the future.
Qualcomm said it agreed to plan, design and install the network in phases, with the first phase beginning commercial operation by mid-year.
JSC is a subsidiary of MTU-Inform, Moscow’s second largest local telephone operator with 70,000 lines.
