AT DEADLINE: JACK FIELDS HIRED TO LOBBY FOR PCIA

The Personal Communications Industry Association has decided to contract out for more “been there, done that” expertise to help forward its wireless agenda on Capitol Hill. As of March 1, Jack Fields, former chairman of the House Telecommunications and Finance Subcommittee, will be helping PCIA formulate now and future legislative strategy through his new firm, the Twenty-First Century Group. PCIA’s Rob Cohen told RCR that Fields’ expertise on telecom issues and his shepherding of the 1996 Telecommunications Act coupled with his knowledge of the House will help the association position itself as a player in spectrum policy, auction and numbering issues.

PCIA also enlisted Ralph Everett, former staff director and chief counsel for the Senate Committee on Science, Commerce and Transportation, to lobby on that side of the Capitol.
