CHARLOTTE, N.C.-Glenayre Technologies Inc.’s Wireless Messaging Group introduced a universal paging platform designed to support a new suite of European and Japanese protocols.
The GL3210 Glenayre Multiprotocol Paging Platform supports the European ERMES-I4 and pan-European Paging protocols for roaming. It also supports the Japan Information Provider protocol for text messaging and the W-System roaming protocol.
The GL3210 interconnects the company’s GL3000 switch to other paging network controllers to provide inter-operator roaming.
The company said beta testing began last year when the platform was shipped to Infomobile in France, CallMax in the Netherlands and several installations in Japan.
The company is developing support for the Interactive Text Messaging protocol and ERMES-Universal Computer protocol. These protocols, scheduled to be released this summer, provide data access to many of the GL3000’s features currently available via telephonic access, such as roaming activation, message retrieval and call barring, Glenayre said.
