UNIDEN SUBSIDIARY WILL FOCUS ON PRIVATE MOBILE RADIO SALES

FORT WORTH, Texas-Uniden Corp. has formed a subsidiary, The Private Radio Communications Group, to specialize in research and development, manufacturing and sales of private mobile radio and specialized mobile radio products. Uniden said it created the group to better serve the needs of its Land Mobile Radio division through a more centralized organization.

“By forming PRC, Uniden is allocating more resources to every aspect of its land mobile radio business to better position the company for growth well into the future,” said Hamlet Sarokhanian, president of the new group. The company said it will double the number of engineers devoted to developing its PMR and SMR products. In addition, PRC will expand its sales force and add specialized groups such as an after-market support group, an operations group focused on procurement, order fulfillment and inventory management, and a marketing group.

“Centralization enables PRC to expand critical business functions, such as after-market support and product engineering, and creates economies of scale resulting in cost savings for our customers,” Sarokhanian said.

“We anticipate the restructuring of our Land Mobile Radio Division will substantially strengthen Uniden’s position in the PMR and SMR market through more focused development efforts and targeted customer support.”
