FORMER ONE-2-ONE EXECUTIVE HIRED AS SPRINT SPECTRUM CEO

KANSAS CITY, Mo.-Sprint Spectrum L.P. has named Andrew Sukawaty chief executive officer.

Sukawaty is known for his work helping launch a personal communications services network in the United Kingdom.

Sprint Spectrum, a partnership consisting of Sprint Corp., Tele-Communications Inc., Comcast Corp. and Cox Communications Inc., is building a nationwide digital PCS system.

Sukawaty replaces Ronald T. LeMay, who earlier this year was appointed president and CEO of Sprint Corp. LeMay will remain chairman of Sprint Spectrum’s partners committee.

“The strength of its brand and the commitment of its partners to offer a truly national service puts Sprint Spectrum in pole position,” Sukawaty said.

Sukawaty joins Sprint Spectrum from NTL in Winchester, England, where he served as CEO of the diversified broadcast transmission and communications company since 1994. Prior to that, he was chief operating officer of Mercury One-2-One in London.

Mercury One-2-One holds a license to offer Global System for Mobile communications personal communications network service in the United Kingdom. The system, launched in 1993, now has more than 7 percent of the U.K.’s wireless market. Mercury One-2-One is owned by Cable and Wireless plc and

U S West Inc.

Sukawaty has a Masters degree in Business from the University of Minnesota.
