ENGLEWOOD, Colo.-U S West Media Group announced an $11 million net loss for the second quarter because of a one-time $19 million charge to write down some European cable companies.
This compares to $25 million net income in second quarter 1995. However, the company’s revenue increased by 17 percent, generating $1.5 billion.
The subscriber base of domestic cellular operations increased by 47 percent from the previous year to 1.6 million customers, said the company. This strong subscriber growth produced $261 million in wireless revenue for the quarter.
