Comcast Cellular Communications Inc. has entered into an agreement with Paging Network Inc. to offer PageNet’s wireless messaging services, including the company’s line of alphanumeric and numeric pagers. PageNet will provide Comcast with customized equipment and other turnkey programs that can include pager leasing, customer service, order fulfillment and billing. By offering paging service, Comcast said it can provide competitive pricing bundled with cellular products and one bill for both paging and cellular service.

Glenayre Technologies Inc. announced it will deploy its Modular Voice Processing System in Omnipoint Communications Inc.’s personal communications services network. OCI, a subsidiary of Omnipoint Corp., will use the MVP System on its Global System for Mobile communications network to offer voice messaging services that will complement and enhance its service in its New York major trading area, said Glenayre. The contract also covers the 18 basic trading area licenses that Omnipoint won in the C-block auction, most of which are contiguous to the New York MTA.

Pacificom L.L.C., a new cellular operator in Saipan, has deployed Celcore Inc.’s cellular infrastructure equipment to launch its cellular network in the Mariana Islands, a U.S. territory in the western Pacific. Celcore said the network includes the GlobalSwitch mobile switching center, GlobalCell Advanced Mobile Phone Service base stations and a network management system with graphical user interface.

Telular Corp. announced it has acquired one-third interest in TelePath Corp., a Hauppauge, N.Y., radio developer. The agreement includes a multiyear product development program designed to provide the next generation of fixed wireless terminals, said Telular. Telular has additional commitments to purchase 50 percent interest in the company by August 1997.

SmartLink Development L.P. announced it will supply CE Communica with an 800 MHz multisite realtime trunking and networking system for its Lima, Peru, operation. SmartLink said the system will be capable of multi-protocol trunking as well as roaming of mobile radios throughout the network, hand-off of calls in progress, cross banding and other features. Linking the sites will be accomplished by using spread spectrum technology and SmartLink’s SiteLink digital multiplexer product.

Cincinnati Bell Information Systems announced it has entered into a contract with 360& Communications Co. to provide additional modules of its Cellular Digital Packet Data Customer Care and Billing Solution. The cellular carrier uses the CBIS Accounting Collector and will augment its system to include CDPD distribution, provisioning and ad hoc reporting functions, said CBIS.
