MONTREAL-Ericsson Communications Canada Inc. announced it has signed a letter of intent with Group Communication Services Inc. of Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada, under which Ericsson will provide hardware, software and support services-based on its Enhanced Digital Access Communications Services Technology-for Group CS’ planned expansion and digital upgrade of its specialized mobile radio networks in Canada.
For Mississauga, Ontario-based Ericsson Communications, the project is valued at $40 million over the next three years. Ericsson said its participation in the project will be complemented by investing $8 million convertible preferred shares in Group CS.
Ericsson said Group CS is Canada’s largest SMR operator, with systems in Quebec, Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia.
