BOSTON-Geotek Communications Inc. announced the introduction of its digital mobile business communications system in the Boston area.
The network, similar to those recently introduced in New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington, D.C., is based on Frequency Hopping Multiple Access digital technology and is designed to provide integrated voice and data communications to businesses that manage a mobile workforce.
Geotek said the network will provide information to mobile workers through the Geotek Mobile Workstation and a device that combines the functions of a cellular phone, two-way radio, pager and laptop computer.
