The Harris NovAtel Division of Harris Canada Inc. and Glenayre Technologies Inc. have signed an original equipment manufacturing agreement that will enable Harris NovAtel to incorporate Glenayre’s Modular Voice Processing System platform in its cellular equipment networks worldwide, Glenayre announced. The platform will provide advanced voice messaging services to subscribers around the world, Glenayre said.
Metrica Inc. announced it has signed an original equipment manufacturer agreement with AT&T Corp. The agreement allows AT&T to offer Metrica performance reporting tools with its Global System for Mobile communications network operations management center. Metrica said its reporting tools subsystem provides interactive access to detailed information on cell traffic, grade of service, dropped and blocked calls, handover attempts and failures and other performance measures.
Sprint Cellular Co. said it has acquired increased ownership in four Florida Panhandle markets, and has acquired the North Carolina 14 rural service area from Southeastern Cellular. The Chicago-based operator acquired an additional 30 percent interest in the Fort Walton Beach metropolitan statistical area and the Florida 10 RSA, giving Sprint Cellular 100 percent interest in those properties. Sprint also gained an additional 30 percent interest in the Tallahassee MSA and Florida 8 RSA, giving Sprint 90 percent interest in those markets.
Real estate professionals in New Jersey’s Essex, Union and Morris counties now will have access to listing information virtually anytime and anywhere by using notebook computers and wireless modems, announced RAM Mobile Data. A new program sponsored by IBM Corp., Garden State Multiple Listing Service, RAM, Inacom Corp. and Software Corporation of America, provides Garden State MLS listings of available residences and businesses throughout the three-county area. More than 25,000 listings will be available to participants in the Wireless MLS program.
Bell Atlantic Nynex Mobile said it has made its TalkAlong service available at 16 Pittsburgh-area Blockbuster Video locations. Customers will be able to sign up for the service and take home a cellular phone and activation kit for $39.99, the company said. Customers can choose a “local zone” for the basic monthly access fee of $14.99 and an in-zone local airtime minute rate of 35 cents, BANM said.
Chadmoore Wireless Group Inc. announced it has accepted a proposal from Motorola Inc. to supply its Integrated Dispatch Enhanced Network wireless communications technology. Chadmoore said it will use the technology as the core of the wide-area digital specialized mobile radio system it plans to deploy throughout the mid-South. The digital network will allow instant communications via dispatch, messaging, data and mobile telephone service, the company said.
