The following list includes venture capital and other investments into wireless companies announced during the past week. The value of the investment is included when available.
—Ambient: Vicis Capital Master Fund invested $3 million into Newmont, Mass.-based Ambient Corp. The financing deal called for Ambient to provide warrants for 135 million shares of common stock and other considerations to Vicis. The company said the investment will fund its operations throughout 2008.
—Buzzd: Greycroft Partners and Monitor Ventures led the Series A round of funding into Buzzd, a location-based city guide and social network service for mobile devices. The investment amount was not disclosed. The New York-based company said it will use proceeds of the round for product development and distribution. Fern Mandelbaum of Monitor Ventures will join the company’s board of directors in connection with the financing.
—MobiTV: Leader Ventures provided $5 million of equipment financing to Menlo Park, Calif.-based MobiTV.
—Red Bend Software: Coral Capital Management led a $10 million round of funding into Red Bend Software, which provides mobile software management. The company said it will use the funding for sales and marketing and to bolster its position in the mobile market. Existing investors Carmel Ventures, Greylock Partners, Pitango Venture Capital, Poalim Ventures and Infinity also participated. Yuval Almog of Coral Capital joins the company’s board of directors in connection with the funding round.
—VirtualLogix: Motorola Ventures made an equity investment of an undisclosed amount into VirtualLogix, which makes virtualization software for communications devices and infrastructure equipment. VirtualLogix’s current investors include Atlas Venture, Cisco Systems, DFJ Esprit, Index Ventures, Intel Capital and Texas Instruments.
