Verizon Wireless, WB hook up for Vcast content

BEDMINSTER, N.J.-Adding to its quickly lengthening list of video content partners, Verizon Wireless announced that scenes and trailers from the WB Network shows “Everwood,” “Gilmore Girls,” “Smallville” and “Supernatural” will be available through the carrier’s Vcast service.

Subscribers will be able to watch the video segments the day before the show airs on the WB.

Also, classic and original Looney Tunes and Hanna Barbera cartoon shorts will be available through Vcast from Warner Bros., including characters such as Bugs Bunny, Tweety, the Flintstones, the Jetsons and Scooby-Doo. The Vcast service also will feature trailers from upcoming motion picture releases from Warner Bros., Warner Independent Pictures and Warner Home Video.

Verizon Wireless prices its multimedia package for Vcast-enabled phones at $15 a month in addition to a calling plan. Application download fees apply for 3D games and premium video, but there are no airtime charges for downloading or streaming Vcast content.
