LONDON-Mobile entertainment publisher Telcogames Ltd. said it has acquired Magic Productions Ltd., a Paris-based developer of games for smart phones running Symbian- and Microsoft Corp. Windows-powered smart phones.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
In addition to broadening its portfolio of titles, Telcogames said it plans to integrate Magic’s development studio. Magic holds licenses from console titles including Another World and QWAK, and recently developed a mobile version of Cannon Fodder.
Telcogames said it will continue to build the Magic brand, and Nicolas Hamel, the developer’s chief executive officer, will be named head of development for the parent company. The integration is expected to occur next year.
“We think (Magic’s) studio is making some of the best mobile games in the world at the moment,” said Jamie Conyngham, CEO of Telcogames. “We want to supplement our world-leading J2ME and BREW portfolio from over 100 publishers with our own high-end games aimed at the serious and experienced mobile gamer who demands an extremely high-quality product.”
