One wouldn’t really expect any streaking at a serious corporate event like the Citrix Synergy conference in San Francisco, but when Dell founder and CEO Michael Dell took to the stage on Thursday, that’s just what happened.
By “streaking” however, we are not implying the PC maker’s chief stripped down, instead, he pulled the firm’s upcoming five inch tablet out of his pants pocket for all to ogle.
RCR recently reported on Dell’s rumored Android Streak tablets, which are now known to run on Qualcomm’s 1 GHz Snapdragon processor rather than Nvidia’s Tegra.  This was the first time a Streak tablet had been spotted in public, though.
The device sports an 800 x 480 capacitive touch-screen display with multi-touch zooming capability, a 5MP camera with a dual-LED flash, Wi-Fi and 3G support.
Dell said the Streak would initially launch under European telco 02 Telefonica next month, with a US AT&T release planned later on this summer.
It’s still unclear which version of Android the little tablet will be running, as Dell ambiguously said it would be the latest version, although v2.2 “Froyo” is due to be released in just a couple of weeks.
The CEO was also quick to dismiss any speculation that tablets would cannibalize any of the firm’s larger, more powerful PC products.
“What’s converging is the data, not the device…It’s not clear that one device replaces another…Some are better for carrying with you. Others are for consuming content, others are better for creating content,” he said.
He went on to add, “the device we use to access our information shouldn’t matter anymore.
“Whether it’s a phone, or a notebook, a netbook or a desktop PC, your client image can follow you everywhere.”
